I am proud to announce that we have a new Vincentian author. She is Cheryl L. A. King nee Phills of Ratho Mill. Her book is entitled: "Michael Manley and Democratic Socialism - Political Leadership and Ideology in Jamaica". It was published in May 2003 by Resource Publications, an imprint of Wipf and Stock, Eugene, Oregon. The ISBN is 1-59244-234-X. It is a small volume at 72 pages. It focuses on the leadership of Michael Manley from 1972 when he
was elected Prime Minister of Jamaica to 1980 when he was voted out of office. You might recall Manley adopted what he called Democratic Socialism as the guiding philosophy of his party (PNP) for the restructuring of  the
Jamaican economy. Cheryl King's study probes the reasons for the failures and successes of Manley's brand of socialism during that period.
I hope you would want to add it to your collection. The retail cost of the book is US$11 plus US$3.00 for shipping.
